Hi I am Dr. Vanessa Benton, thanks for your interest. I like to tell patients/ clients that I am the happiest and luckiest Doctor I know because I get to do two things that I am truly passionate about everyday, namely, Holistic Medicine and Fitness & Nutrition. I chose to become a Chiropractic Physician because it's the ideal platform to combine my passions to benefit my patients/clients. I started out in the health care field as a Medical Technologist Microbiologist in 1994 I worked at a hospital laboratory testing blood, bodily fluids and stool to diagnose various diseases and conditions. I truly enjoyed that experience and knowledge. The experience I acquired is helpful in counseling my patients/ clients on medical conditions and disease prevention. During my years working at the hospital as a Medical Technologist I realized that many diseases and chronic conditions can be prevented with lifestyle changes. I noticed that individuals who practiced a Holistic lifestyle, sought preventive care (while still well), practiced good nutrition and exercised regularly were less likely to succumb to common illnesses, heart disease, cancers, and depression and had better quality of life. This led me to pursue a Masters degree in Public Health, specifically Health Promotion/Behavior. Following my MPH I decided to become a Chiropractic Physician, because I believed I could do the most good in the Holistic health care field, educating and empowering patients/clients to embark on lifelong wellness, through lifestyle changes for them and their children. I have been an AFAA certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor since 1996. I also have certifications in Nutrition and Stress Management. I have worked for national companies such as Coca Cola corporate office, New York Sports Clubs, California Fitness, Bally's Fitness, and Gold's Gym, just having a fantastic time helping clients reach their fitness goals. My greatest satisfaction comes from empowering patients/clients through education on the potential of the human body to self-heal and become stronger through correct care and healthy living.Personal mantra ... Have a heart that never hardens, a temper that never tires, a touch that never hurts. ~ Charles Dickens
